The key to good content is research. When people discuss content marketing, they frequently concentrate solely on the end result. However, effective content necessitates research. This crucial part of marketing should not be overlooked.
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to conduct research before writing any content.
Method 1: Use Browser Extension: Keywords Everywhere
Keywords Everywhere is a fantastic tool that allows me to identify relevant stuff in Google search results. Another benefit of this tool is that it shares related search queries in addition to the original query.
The most significant aspect is that I don’t have to go anywhere to examine this information. This info appears on my search result page automatically after I added the Keyword Everywhere Extention.
Assume I wish to investigate the content opportunity on “fitness tips”. As a result, I conducted an internet search, and here are some ideas I’ve come across.
On the right side of my screen, you can see that some similar terms for the search query have been discovered. However, there is a problem. These keywords cover a wide range of topics. To be more particular, I’d like to narrow down the topic.
Assume I’m seeking “fitness tips” for girls in particular. And my next search will be for “fitness tips for girls”. However, this step will narrow your audience from a broader to a more specific and niche group. Also, this is better than the previous query.
Still, this result is not specific on a single topic. To be more specific, I will focus on the query “weight loss” as this is one of the most discussed topics among the girls.
Oh wow !! Here is another result while I have scrolled down the page. Have a look at this.
As you can see, this is the process of doing content research using the Keyword Everywhere Tool. If you found this technique is helpful for you, simply install the free extension on your browser.
Limitations: This process is quite lengthy and time-consuming. Also, this extension is not good enough to check the search volume. All the results are showing in a messy way. If you are a beginner, you may found this process quite complicated.
Method 2: Use Content Research FREE Tool: BuzzSumo
BuzzSumo is a great tool to explore high performing contents on social media. When I was writing an article on backlinks, I made a detailed research on BuzzSumo. This research helped me to write a fully informative content over 1700+ words.
Click here to navigate to BuzzSumo website and search your topic. For your better understanding, I am doing research on the same topic “backlink”.
And I have found this result.
Limitations: If you are working on SEO, this tool might be not helpful to you. As said earlier, this tool shares contents which are trending on social media, not in search engine.
Methos 3: Use All in One SEO Tool: SEMRush (Most Popular)
Here I am going to explore the most popular and my personal favourite tool, i.e. SEMrush. Also, this is an All-in-One SEO tool. So you can improve your SEO using SEMrush.
Click here to create a FREE account. After signup, you will be redirected to the dashboard.
Click on the “Topic Research” option in the left panel of your dashboard.
I have used this tool for content research on almost all of my articles. Here I will show an example from my existing article.
For example, I will check the content opportunity for “Social Media Management”. And here is the result I have found.
As you can see, results came in a categorised view along with related topic. Now the magic begins.
For example, if you want to explore social media management on customer service category, then you have to click on “show more” link.
Here you will get more ideas on customer service. This top headlines and questions helped me to get a detailed research idea on this specific topic.
Here another data for related search query on the search engine. This is nothing but keyword ideas which will help to write SEO optimised content.
If you are working with content marketing, then I am sharing another category result, which ideas may be helpful for you.
Here is the related keywords on this topic.
